Why Empty Hallways?

Learning to blog is not easy.

Writing an original play and then, sharing it with others, has been extremely difficult.

The task at hand is one I take for granted and underestimate considerably. Realizing this makes me appreciate the accomplishments of others in a way I never have before. I feel vastly inferior but am grateful because I still have much to learn and many mistakes ahead. I only hope to gain more from making a mistake.

Blogging, I thought, was for narcissists. This assumption was wrong. If you are a strong enough writer, the blog creates a forum to challenge and grow in. I was a fool not to see it before.

Perhaps what I write will be interesting. Perhaps not. Either way, I’m going to keep at it. I have everything to gain and very little to lose. At least, this is what I hope.

  1. I think that blogging is both: for narcisists (I certainly am one) and as a way to write a new kind of prose that incorporates the reader into the process like never before.
